About Escape Animals

Escape Animals is a free .io survival game you play in your browser, where you dodge lava and ice to collect rare animals for your base.

You start with an empty base and run out to the animal spawn zones. Each animal you carry home earns money on its own, and that money buys upgrades. You can play Escape Animals online right away, with nothing to download.

The map holds 60 animals across 7 rarity tiers, and the further zones hold the rarer ones. Those zones are also more dangerous, so speed and timing matter. Below you will find the Escape Animals controls, a short guide to the first minutes and a few Escape Animals tips.

Escape Animals features

Lava and ice hazards share the same map, so you have to watch for both at once.
60 unique animals to collect, split into 7 rarity tiers.
Animals in your base generate currency automatically, even while you run.
Upgrades increase your running speed and how much you can carry.
Map events, such as Cosmic and celestial ones, change what you find as you play.
Rebirth resets your run for permanent bonuses: income multipliers, extra slots and jump boosts.

Tips to get better at Escape Animals

Collect nearby animals first. Your character starts slow, and a short trip is much safer than a long one.
Buy speed upgrades early. Rarer animals sit in farther zones, and you cannot reach them safely on a slow runner.
Use the jump key to get over hazards, and plan your route back to base before you pick an animal up.
Do not risk a valuable animal on a crowded route. If lava or ice blocks the way, wait or find a safer path, because a hit costs you what you carry.
Rebirth once your income growth stalls, so the permanent multipliers and extra slots speed up your next run.

Rebirth, on the R key, resets almost all of your progress. In return you get permanent bonuses such as income multipliers, extra slots and jump bonuses.

How many animals can I collect?

There are 60 unique animals, divided into 7 rarity tiers. The rarer ones are found in the farther, more dangerous zones.

How to play Escape Animals

Leave your base and head to the nearest animal spawn zone.
Walk up to an animal and press E to pick it up, then run straight back and drop it in your base.
Stay clear of lava and ice. Touching either sends you back to base and you lose the animal you were holding.
Let your animals earn passive income, then spend it on upgrades for speed and carry capacity.
Use the extra speed to reach farther zones with rarer animals, and fill your base with the most valuable ones.
When progress slows, press R to rebirth. You reset most of your progress in exchange for permanent bonuses.
